Prague, at the heart of Europe has a wealth of architectural treasures, one of which is the house "U tri pstrosu " (At the Three Ostriches).
The house stands by the Charles Bridge. This stone bridge, one of jewels of Gothic architecture, was built by Charles IV, the Czech king and Holy Roman Emperor. The original house stood on the pier of Charles Bridge, which replaced the earlier Judith Bridge swept away by a flood.
For centuries the House at the Three Ostriches - "U tri pstrosu" had a variety of owners, but never has changed its purpose. It always was and it'll always be a hospitable place for everyone who pays a visit.

Hotel U Pstrosu is located beside the Charles Bridge on the left bank of the river. Historical part of the city (area called Lesser Quarter - Mala Strana).
DESCRIPTION:
The house "U tri pstrosu" (At the Three Ostriches) stands by the Charles Bridge, the stone bridge, one of the jewels of Gothic architecture, built by Charles IV. During the time of the Hussite upheaval it was burnt down, and then rebuilt by Jan Fuchs, a supplier of ostrich feathers, who had the front wall of his house decorated with ostriches. However, legend says that during the rule of Charles IV a foreign delegation which was carying three ostriches as a present for the Emperor spent a night in the house.
These three ostriches became the symbols of the house in the centruies that followed. It was the first coffee house in Bohemia, selling coffee brought by the Greek, Deodastus Damascenus. The house has changed ownership many times, but it has always had one purpose - to be a hospitable place for everyone who visits. Nowdays, it offers 14 rooms and 4 apartments and wide range of services to its guests.
Nine rooms have the original wooden renaissance ceilings. Some of the rooms have open view at Charles Bridge.
